1 killed, 1 injured in head-on collision in Fayetteville

One driver was killed and another was injured in a head-on collision Tuesday night on Stoney Point Road near Braddy Road, the Fayetteville Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to the two-vehicle collision around 8:20 p.m., the department said in a release.

Carmel L. Candage, 46, of the 5000 block of Maidstone Lane in Hope Mills, was driving a silver 2006 Nissan Sentra southeast on Stoney Point Road and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Her next of kin has been notified.

Patricia J. Cimaglia, 47, of the 8000 block of Cliffdale Road, was driving a 2015 GMC Terrain northwest on Stoney Point Road. She was taken to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, the release said. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that Candage’s vehicle drifted left of center and struck Cimaglia’s vehicle head-on, the release said. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. 

The intersection of Braddy Road at Stoney Point Road was temporarily closed while members of the department’s Traffic Unit investigated, the release said.
