35-year-old man dies after shooting on Candleberry Court, police say

A 35-year-old man was killed when he was shot in the abdomen Friday evening in the 500 block of Candleberry Court, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Investigators identified the victim as Rahsheed Williams.

A caller reported a physical disturbance at the address about 7:50 p.m. Friday, according to a news release. As officers were responding, an additional call was received a few minutes later reporting a shooting at the same location, the release said.

Officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and later pronounced dead. 

The suspect and victim appear to have known each other, the release said.

The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation by the department’s Aggravated Assault Unit, the release said.
