Interstate 295 construction to require lane closures on Camden Road

Bridge, ramps to be built southwest of Jack Britt High School

Posted

Drivers on Camden Road should expect delays for the next several months near where construction on Interstate 295 has begun, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

A contractor is building an interchange with a bridge and ramps that will carry Camden Road over I-295 near Farm Circle Road and southwest of Jack Britt High School.

The contractor needs to close one of the two lanes for grading dirt and installing drainage pipes near the edge of Camden Road. Lane closures will be limited to between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays and are expected through June, according to a news release.

Large dump trucks and bed scrapers will be in use to move dirt across Camden Road, requiring brief closures of Camden Road in both directions.

The 5-mile segment, which will run from Camden to Raeford roads, is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
