Law enforcement agencies team up for arrests on drug, weapons charges

Joint operation targets U.S. 301, Owen Drive, Massey Hill neighborhood

Four men were arrested on drug and weapons charges after a joint law-enforcement operation targeted the U.S. 301, Owen Drive and Massey Hills areas of Fayetteville on Tuesday, according to a news release.

The Fayetteville Police Department joined with other local agencies to identify areas of concern for residents’ safety, the release said. Officers made multiple arrests on felony charges and traffic violations. 

Agencies that teamed with the Police Department include the Hope Mills, Spring Lake, St. Paul’s and Red Springs police departments; the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office; Cumberland County Parole and Probation division; state Alcohol Law Enforcement; and the Criminal Investigation Division.

In all, officers seized $2,969 in U.S. currency; 117 grams of Fentanyl; 612 grams of marijuana; and two handguns.

The arrests resulted in four felony charges and three misdemeanor charges, the release said. 

Darrien Matthews, 19, was charged with felony trafficking in opium or heroin; felony maintaining a dwelling for drug trafficking; misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun; and failure to stop for a stop sign, the release said. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Natawn McIntyre, 23, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana; felony drug manufacturing felony maintaining a dwelling for drug trafficking; felony fleeing to elude arrest; misdemeanor hit-and-run; misdemeanor reckless driving; misdemeanor assault on a government official; a misdemeanor vehicle window tint violation; improper use of a traffic lane; and covering a vehicle registration. He was held at the county jail under a $50,000 secured bond. 

Dezmarcus Snow, 21, was charged with possession of firearm by felon. He was held at the county jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

Darryl Davis, 57, was arrested on an existing warrant for robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was held at the county jail under a $75,000 secured bond.
