A man who police say robbed a bank in Fayetteville on Tuesday afternoon has been taken into custody in Robeson County.
Dennis Wayne Price Jr. was taken into custody without incident after a traffic stop by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Fayetteville Police Department said in a release.
At 12:30 p.m., Fayetteville police officers were dispatched to the PNC Bank at 454 Ramsey St. in response to a reported bank robbery, the release said.
Police said Price entered the bank and passed a note to the teller. The note was written on the back of his pay stub, police said.
The teller initially declined his demand. Price then demanded the money, and the teller placed an undisclosed amount of cash into an envelope, police said in the release.
Police said Price left in a 2012 bluish-gray Toyota Camry with North Carolina registration CCD-2335. He was heading north on Ramsey Street.
Police said earlier Tuesday, Price attempted to rob Lumbee Guaranty Bank at 301 N. Walnut St. in Fairmont by passing a note through the drive-thru lane. The teller refused his demand, and he left, police said.
Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Robbery Unit are investigating.
