Rain, flash flooding possible this weekend, according to weather forecast

Showers and a possible thunderstorm are forecast for Fayetteville on Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

A marginal risk of a severe thunderstorm and flash flooding is expected into Friday evening, forecasters said. Damaging wind gusts and possible hail are the primary threats, the Weather Service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely mainly before noon, and then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Friday, according to the forecast. The chance of precipitation is 70%, with rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

The chance of precipitation is 60% Friday night, forecasters said.

Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 81, according to the forecast.

On Sunday, there is a slight risk of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with a high of near 83, the Weather Service says.
