Fayetteville police ID man found dead on Ray Avenue

The Fayetteville Police Department has identified a man who was found dead on Ray Avenue early Monday.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Ray Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a man who was dead, the Police Department said in a release.

Officers found 71-year-old Frank Carmichael Jr. outside a business with injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel, police said. 

It was the third homicide in as many days in Fayetteville.

On Saturday, two people died after being shot in unrelated incidents.

Sierra Harper, 22, was found on Gordon Way Saturday afternoon. Police said she had been shot multiple times. She died at the hospital.

Police are looking for a man who has been charged in the shooting.

Police said 18-year-old Lee Otis Evans Jr. was shot to death Saturday night on Treetop Drive. Police said he was found outside an apartment building.
