Posted

Detectives have identified a man who was killed in an exchange of gunfire during a home invasion early Wednesday on South Shield Drive.

The Fayetteville Police Department said 22-year-old Kyshii Swinson of the 300 block of Waterdown Drive died at the scene.

The Police Department is looking for a second man, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The homeowner, whose name has not been released, was shot in the leg during the exchange of gunfire. He was taken to the hospital. His condition was not known Wednesday night.

Sgt. Jeremy Glass, a spokesman for the department, said the incident was not random. He said the homeowner and the home invaders were known to each other.

Officers were dispatched to the 7700 block of South Shield Drive around 3:45 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

They found the homeowner inside. Swinson was found shot outside the residence, Glass said.

Detectives are trying to locate Swinson’s vehicle, a gray 2020 Kia Rio with N.C. license plate RDJ-5899. Glass said the vehicle was not used at the home invasion, but investigators have been unable to locate it.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Detective M. Waters at 910-635-4978 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
