Posted

Two soldiers were injured Tuesday, one of them critically, when they missed the drop zone during a training exercise and landed in a neighborhood near Fort Bragg, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The soldiers were assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Maj. Rick Dickson, a spokesman for the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), said in a release.

One soldier was taken to a local medical facility and is in critical but stable condition, the release said. The second soldier received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Training was temporarily suspended following the accident, Dickson said. The incident is under investigation.

“We want to extend our gratitude to the local authorities and members of the community who immediately responded to provide assistance,” the release said.

The names of the soldiers were not released.
