James "Jim" Rickman

James "Jim" Rickman, 83, departed this life on May 2, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 19, 1941, to the late James George Rickman and Virginia Katherine Rickman. Jim was a dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather, and cherished member of his community.

Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carolyn Matthews Rickman, and a loving father to his children, Amanda Brown and husband Charlie Brown, Brandy Thibodeaux, and Candy Thibodeaux; granddaughter, Alivia Brown; brother, Paul Rickman; niece, Valerie Smith; nephew, Paul Allen, and many extended family members and friends.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years. Following his military service, he pursued higher education, earning a business degree. He worked 40 years in the grocery industry. His last 27 working years were dedicated to Food Lion. Jim’s faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. He found joy in attending Liberty Church where he was a proud member for 36 years. He also served as a board member of the Carolina College of Biblical Studies. In addition to his military and professional endeavors, Jim had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid golfer, reader, and collector of coins and stamps. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughter, Alivia. They both shared a love for drawing and spent many hours together. Jim will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carolina College of Biblical Studies or Liberty Church in memory of Jim's life and legacy.

There will be a visitation for friends and family on May 7, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm at Liberty Church, Spring Lake. A celebration of Jim's life will immediately follow at 1 pm.
