(Editor's note: This report has been updated with the death of the shooting victim and the arrest a man charged with murder.)
An ongoing dispute between two men led to the shooting death of one of them on Monday afternoon in the 400 block of Lynn Avenue, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
The victim was identified as Carlos Lesean Brown, 45, of Fayetteville.
The shooting was reported about 3:40 p.m. Monday. Officers found Brown suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and later pronounced dead, a news release said.
Joshua Tashun Joyce, 39, of Fayetteville, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
Investigators say Brown and Joyce were involved in an ongoing dispute that led to an altercation before Monday’s shooting. Joyce was arrested at the scene of the shooting, the news release said.
